Essential Wedding Signage: What You Actually Need
Wedding signage plays an important role on your big day. It guides your guests through the event, sets expectations, and, of course, has to look beautiful, too. Its role can also vary depending on your venue. A wedding at a private residence often requires more extensive signage to label everything from the ceremony location to the restrooms. In contrast, a hotel wedding may need only a few thoughtfully placed signs.
No matter where your wedding is taking place, a handful of essential pieces will make your event easier to navigate. Here’s what our lead designer considers must-haves—and how they enhance the guest experience.

Essential Wedding Signage
Seating Signage
This category includes place cards and your choice of escort cards or a seating chart. When guests know exactly where to go, it prevents bottlenecks at the reception entrance and awkward interactions.
While assigning specific seats can feel like a hassle, your guests will appreciate being able to dine and socialize with people they know. If you’re planning long tables, we consider this especially important.
Case in point: last year, our lead designer attended a wedding where a single section of the table couldn’t accommodate her entire group of friends. They were split between two sections mixed with other guests but ended up asking other guests to move so they could still sit together during dinner. Awkward—and entirely avoidable.

Table Menus
We’re big fans of wedding menus at Invited by LamaWorks. They’re an easy, affordable way to enhance your tablescape, and they’re highly customizable.
We recommend personalizing each menu with your guests’ names and their selected meal (especially for plated dinners). What starts as a simple choice between beef, chicken, or fish becomes an elevated, restaurant-like experience, setting the tone for an unforgettable celebration. After all, few things get people more excited than great food!

Bar Menu or Custom Drink Sign
Whether you’re offering signature cocktails or a full open bar, this sign is a must. Bar lines tend to be long, but they move much faster when guests can quickly see what’s available without asking.
This is also a great opportunity to add personality. Consider incorporating a custom pet illustration and naming drinks after your furry friends, or featuring your wedding monogram.

Creating a Cohesive Design with Wedding Signage
This is where working with a single designer for all your wedding paper, from invitations to place cards, really pays off.
At Invited by LamaWorks, we carry design elements like fonts, colors, and artwork across each piece to create a cohesive look without making everything feel repetitive. The goal is for items like your seating chart and table numbers to feel connected, rather than identical.
Our boutique can produce signage in a wide range of sizes. Smaller pieces (8×10 and under) are shipped directly to you, while larger signs can be printed locally. If you’re working with a wedding planner, we’re happy to collaborate with them or a local sign company to bring large-scale or acrylic designs to life. Simply let us know what files are needed, and we’ll provide everything required for production.

Wedding signage can seem complicated—even overwhelming—but in most cases, a few well-chosen essentials are all you need. With clearly labeled seating and menus for your guest tables and bar, your guests will have everything they need for a seamless experience.
