Mailing Your Wax Seals

Here’s the thing—wax seals are technically non-machinable, which means they might require a little extra postage or hand canceling. But don’t stress, I’ll walk you through it. When in doubt, bring a finished sample to your local post office to weigh and check!

  • Use them on inner envelopes or inside a vellum wrap so they’re protected.
  • Ask your post office about hand canceling and postage needs—some are more flexible than others.
  • I use a special flexible wax that’s designed to handle USPS sorting machines, so breakage is rarely a problem.Ā

The Cost of Wax Seals

There are two main options when it comes to wax seals. Custom designs, like a custom monogram, will be more expensive, starting at $4.00 per wax seal.

If you're looking for a way to add that elegant wax seal detail without stretching your budget, consider choosing a pre-designed seal. Generic designs, like florals, botanicals, or leaves, are often more affordable than custom monograms or crest designs because the die has already been made. Not only do they cost less, but they also ship faster, making them a great option for couples on a tighter timeline or budget. These are start at $2.70 per wax seal.
