How Do Digital Wedding Invitations Work?

You purchase digital wedding invitations via a customizable design template. All the design heavy lifting has been done for you (by yours truly!), but you can edit as you see fit. For example, most designs permit you to change the font and ink color and move text boxes and artwork as needed. Some also allow you to change the artwork color.

Are They a Good Fit For Me?

Digital wedding invitations are a good fit for couples who are particular about their invitation’s design (hello, fellow Type A people!), but don’t have the necessary software to design from scratch. Our templates live in Corjl, a middle-of-the-road, user-friendly design software that’s more advanced than Word but less robust than Adobe. We love that it was created with printed goods in mind, unlike Canva, and offers download options specific to different printing presses. It also allows you to upload photos and add them to your design!

Pros

Customizable

You can customize a digital wedding invitation's font, ink color, and spacing. You can use practically any ink color you want, as long as you have the hex code. In addition, you may move the text boxes and edit the spacing between letters and lines of text.

Speed

Using a digital template to design your wedding invitations can be much faster than ordering a printed suite. You purchase the file, make the necessary edits to your design (you can do this all at once or come back and work on it at any time), download, and print. So, there’s no lengthy, back-and-forth revision process. As for printing, you may use your home printer, a local print shop, or Prints of Love, Corjl’s affiliated printer, which connects to their database and offers a coupon code to Corjl users.

Cons

Limits to Customization

Unlike a fully custom design, there is a limit to how much you can customize a digital wedding invitation. For example, the font database is limited. In addition, while you may make some edits to spacing, most artwork is locked and can’t be moved. 

Manual Guest List

Unfortunately, you can’t use a data merge to load your guest list into Corjl. So, you will have to add each address manually, one at a time.
