A Garden Wedding Overlooking the Ocean at Casa Romantica
What do you get when you combine a lush garden in Southern California with sweeping ocean views? Pure wedding day magic!
Vivien and Andrew’s Casa Romantica wedding was one of our favorites from last year. From the venue’s historic, Spanish Colonial architecture to the soft sound of the ocean waves drifting toward the celebration, you couldn’t have asked for a more gorgeous setting. We had the honor of designing semi-custom invitations and table numbers that reflected the garden party theme. We’re grateful that this couple entrusted us with bringing a part of their vision to life!

Semi-Custom Invitations for a Garden Wedding
Vivien loved our Laura and Alex collection, so we decided to use the design as the starting point for her semi-custom invitation suite. A delicate floral wreath is the focal point of this simple yet elegant design, making it a perfect choice for a garden wedding.
To customize Vivien and Andrew’s invitation, we began by creating several drafts using different fonts. Once the couple identified their favorite, we experimented with various envelope colors. Vivien wanted the envelope to be pink or green to reflect the gardens at Casa Romantica. Eventually, we settled on a beautiful, muted sage hue that was as reminiscent of the neighboring coastline as it was of the venue. An envelope liner with line-drawn flowers added a feminine finishing touch to the suite.

A Wedding Overlooking the Ocean at Casa Romantica
Vivien and Andrew’s wedding day began with a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, honoring their shared heritage. They served tea to their family members and other elders in a show of respect and gratitude. The ceremony also symbolizes a couple’s willingness to care for each other throughout their married life.
Then, their traditional wedding ceremony took place on Casa Romantica’s Ocean Terrace, overlooking a panoramic view of the sparkling Pacific and the nearby pier. A split floral arch framed the couple as they exchanged vows, constructed from lush greenery, palm fronds, and colorful flowers that brought the garden feel out to the terrace.
The reception that followed was in the courtyard garden. When designing her Casa Romantica wedding, Vivien’s goal was to highlight the venue’s features instead of detracting from them with excessive decorations. Hints of pink in the table linens and flowers pulled in the warm tones of the home’s stucco roof. Meanwhile, centerpieces filled with organically arranged blooms and greenery evoked a summer garden. Our table numbers, designed with a deckled edge and emerald green ink, beautifully complemented the tablescape while serving as a callback to the invitation design.

With a setting that combined California history and picturesque views, this wedding was something special. As a wedding stationery boutique, we love creating for days just like this one: full of joy, romance, and time-honored traditions. Whether you’re looking for wedding invitations that are modern and minimal or bold and romantic, we would be honored to assist you in designing the perfect suite for your celebration.
